SW Charter School’s Naturalization Ceremony Welcomes 10 New Citizens

“A March 12 event will culminate 48 students’ research into civics, immigration and countries of origin

Southwest Charter School is planning the party of a lifetime for 10 people from 10 countries who will become U.S. citizens at 11 a.m. March 12.

The 48 seventh- and eight-grade students at the small K-8 school on Southwest Bancroft Street will decorate the Great Room for a special naturalization ceremony through the Department of Human Services’ U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services.

The children have been doing in-depth studies on civics, immigration and the countries of origin of the soon-to-be citizens. They will join in the ceremony by singing the national anthem, and afterwards serve their guests with a potluck meal and gift bags.”
